Feature flag

Meaning in product management, with examples

nounCommon term

In product management, feature flag means: A switch in the code that lets a team turn a feature on or off for some or all users without releasing a new version of the product.

In Turkish: özellik bayrağı, özellik anahtarı

How it is used

Also called a feature toggle. Feature flags let teams ship code early, test with internal users, run A/B tests and quickly turn off a feature that causes problems. Old flags must be cleaned up, or they become technical debt.
