This page explains how Okuzeka handles account, reading, uploaded content, AI request, support, and billing-related privacy data, including KVKK/GDPR rights and retention rules.

This Privacy Policy explains how Okuzeka collects, uses, stores, and deletes personal data in connection with the app and website. It covers account data, uploaded reading content, reading progress, notes, cards, and support communication. Where payments are processed by Apple or Paddle, the payment provider also processes certain billing and transaction data under its own privacy terms.
We may collect your name, email address, password hash, account status, selected plan, reading progress, uploaded book metadata, extracted page text, selected lookup words or phrases, short sentence context, generated meanings/translations, notes, saved cards, and support messages. We may also process basic technical data such as IP-related request logs, device/browser information, page views, session events, referrer information, and session cookies or local storage identifiers needed to operate and improve the service.
We use personal data to create and secure your account, provide reading and AI assistance features, save your library and progress, enforce plan limits, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, understand how users navigate the product, identify common language-learning needs from lookup patterns, prioritize improvements, and improve product reliability. Okuzeka does not sell personal data or share personal data with data brokers. Mobile advertising measurement and the applicable tracking choices are described in sections 7A and 7B. We only use data where we have a valid operational, contractual, legal, or legitimate-interest reason to do so.
Files and related reading data are processed so we can display your content, extract text, provide word meanings and sentence translations, generate study cards, and restore your place in a book. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and use any file you submit through the service.
To deliver contextual meanings and translations, Okuzeka may send limited request data such as the selected word, surrounding sentence, and language settings to AI providers. We also use infrastructure and email providers where necessary to operate the service. We aim to send only the minimum data required for the requested feature.
If you buy a paid plan on iOS, payment is handled by Apple's in-app purchase system. If you buy through the website, checkout, billing, invoicing, tax handling, charge handling, and some transaction support functions may be handled by Paddle as Merchant of Record. In those cases Apple or Paddle may collect and process billing details, payment identifiers, purchase history, and transaction records under their own buyer-facing legal and privacy frameworks.
Qoran is Okuzeka's Quran reading app. It works without a name, email address, password, or sign-in form. On first launch, the app automatically creates a random device profile identifier, stores it in the device Keychain, and registers an anonymous profile with Okuzeka when internet access is available. This minimal profile supports daily allowances, service security, and Apple subscription access; opening the app does not require an Apple account check. Quran reading works offline. AI text processing and word-history synchronization remain optional: only after you enable them are selected Arabic words, relevant verse context, and language preferences sent to Okuzeka and OpenAI for analysis, and word history synchronized to Okuzeka. When a verified Apple purchase is restored, its app-specific account token can recover the original anonymous subscription profile; Qoran does not receive the person's Apple ID. Disabling AI and history sync does not delete the minimal anonymous profile; you can delete the profile separately in Settings. A deleted profile is not automatically recreated until you explicitly enable or use AI again. The app does not use this data for advertising or tracking across apps and websites. Qoran's AI output is reading assistance only, not an official translation, religious ruling, or verified interpretation.
Okuzeka uses essential cookies and local storage to maintain login state, restore reading position, keep cards and notes synchronized with your session, and preserve core interface state. Okuzeka also uses first-party analytics identifiers and event logs to measure visits, sessions, navigation patterns, and product usage so the service can be operated and improved. These mechanisms are used for product improvement, security, and reliability, not for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Versions of the Okuzeka iOS app that include Firebase Analytics use Google Analytics to measure app launches, completed reading sessions, visits to the plans screen, and subscription conversions. These measurements may include app and device information, installation identifiers, event times, product identifiers, transaction identifiers, and purchase amounts and currencies when available. Firebase advertising personalization and IDFA collection are disabled in our configuration. Meta App Events starts only after you allow tracking in Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt; it may use the advertising identifier and selected conversion events to measure advertising performance. You can decline or change tracking permission in iOS Settings without losing app features. We do not send book text, book titles, lookup text, email addresses, or our account and visitor identifiers as advertising event parameters. Google's and Meta's privacy policies govern their processing of data received through these services. This iOS integration does not apply to the Chrome extension or Qoran.
From version 1.0.5, Okuzeka Android uses Google Analytics for Firebase to measure first launches, app sessions, completed reading sessions, visits to subscription plans, and Google Play purchases and subscriptions. Google receives an app installation identifier, app and device information, event times, approximate location derived from masked IP addresses, and purchase details such as product identifiers, amounts and currencies. We use these measurements to improve the app and measure Google Ads campaign conversions through our linked Analytics and Google Ads accounts. Analytics collection is enabled when the app opens. Advertising ID collection, ad storage, ad user data consent and advertising personalization are disabled in our Android configuration. We do not send book text, book titles, lookup text, email addresses, account identifiers or purchase tokens as custom Analytics parameters. Data is encrypted in transit. Google processes this data under its privacy policy and the applicable Analytics and advertising measurement terms. Android payments are handled by Google Play; Google and Okuzeka process the transaction information needed to validate and manage subscriptions. We keep personal data only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purposes below. Actual retention may be shorter where deletion is requested and no legal, security, tax, fraud-prevention, billing, or dispute reason requires continued retention.

Qoran lets you clear local word history and initiate deletion of the anonymous profile and its synchronized word history directly from Settings. If remote processing is disabled, the reading history remains on the device only and can be removed there. A Qoran profile deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription; Apple subscriptions are managed through the App Store. We may retain the minimum information required for legal, tax, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute purposes, and operational backups may expire on their normal retention cycle.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict some personal data, or to object to certain processing. You can manage some account information directly inside the product. For app privacy requests, contact support@okuzeka.com. For payment and transaction privacy requests handled by Paddle, Paddle's privacy channels may also apply.
If you are in Turkiye, rights under KVKK may include requesting information about processing, correction, deletion or destruction where applicable, notification of third parties, objection to certain results, and compensation requests where legally available. If you are in the EEA/UK, GDPR rights may include access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and the right to complain to a supervisory authority. To exercise rights related to Okuzeka app data, contact support@okuzeka.com with enough information to verify the account.
Okuzeka is not designed specifically for children and does not knowingly target children with the service. If a minor uses Okuzeka, a parent or legal guardian should supervise the account and the uploaded reading material. If you believe a child provided personal data without appropriate consent, contact support@okuzeka.com so the issue can be reviewed.
Okuzeka may use infrastructure, email, AI, and billing providers that process data in countries different from your own. We use first-party product analytics for operating and improving Okuzeka, and Google and Meta measurement services for the mobile integrations described in sections 7A and 7B. Where required, we rely on applicable safeguards, provider terms, contractual protections, or legal bases suitable for the service being provided.
When you request a meaning in the Okuzeka Chrome extension, the selected text, nearby sentence, language settings, page title and page origin/path are sent to Okuzeka. Query parameters and fragments are excluded. OpenAI processes the selected text, sentence and languages to provide the requested meaning and translation. Saving a card stores the word, meaning and source context in your account. The use and transfer of user data obtained through the extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. This data is used only to provide or improve its reading and vocabulary features, not sold or used for advertising targeting, creditworthiness or lending.
