In immigration & visas, address registration means: The official recording of where you live with the local authorities, which many countries require soon after you move in.

How it is used

Known by local names, such as Anmeldung in Germany. The registration certificate is then needed for a tax number, a bank account, a residence permit or a school place. People register their address, deregister when they leave and update it when they move.
