Drill down

In data science & analytics, drill down means: To move from a summary view to more detailed data, for example from yearly sales to monthly sales and then to single stores, in order to find the cause of a pattern.

How it is used

Used about dashboards and analysis: you drill down into a number, by region or to the order level. Many dashboards let users click to drill down. The noun is 'drill-down', as in 'a drill-down view'.
