Driving range
Meaning in automotive, with examples
In automotive, driving range means: The distance a vehicle can travel on a full battery or a full tank. For electric cars it is usually given according to an official test cycle such as WLTP.
In Turkish: menzil, sürüş menzili
How it is used
Usually just range in conversation. People compare official (WLTP) range with real-world range; cold weather, high speed and heating reduce it. Range anxiety is the fear of running out of charge before reaching a charger.
Example sentences
The official driving range is 520 km, but expect around 400 km on the highway in winter.
Using the heat pump instead of the resistive heater improves driving range in cold weather.
