Mark up

Meaning in architecture, with examples

phrasal verbCommon term

In architecture, mark up means: To add comments, corrections or changes by hand or digitally on a drawing or document so that someone else can update it.

In Turkish: düzeltmeleri işaretlemek, üzerine not düşmek, kırmızı kalemle düzeltmek

How it is used

Common between senior architects, junior staff and consultants. Corrections are traditionally made in red, so marked-up drawings are often called redlines. The noun is markup or mark-up, and PDF tools are widely used for digital markups.
