In mobile app development, release means: A version of an app made available to users, or the act of making it available; as a verb, to publish a new version in the store.

How it is used

Teams plan releases, cut a release branch, write release notes and follow a release schedule, for example every two weeks. In the stores, release notes appear under 'What's New'. A release can be phased or staged so that only some users get the update at first.
