Notify party

Meaning in international trade, with examples

nounCommon term

In international trade, notify party means: The person or company named on a bill of lading whom the carrier will inform when the goods arrive, often the buyer or the buyer's customs broker.

In Turkish: ihbar adresi, bildirim yapılacak taraf

How it is used

Especially important when the consignee is 'to order' or a bank, because the carrier needs a real contact at destination. Under an L/C, the credit usually states exactly what to write in the notify party box.

Example sentences

  1. Consignee: to order; notify party: the buyer, with full address and phone number.

  2. The notify party did not receive the arrival notice, so the container waited for a week.
