A.TR

Meaning in international trade, with examples

nounCommon term

In international trade, A.TR means: A movement certificate used in trade between Turkey and the EU to show that industrial goods are in free circulation in the customs union, so no customs duty is charged.

In Turkish: A.TR dolaşım belgesi, A.TR belgesi

How it is used

Very common in Turkish exports to Europe. An A.TR does not prove origin: goods made in a third country can also travel with an A.TR once they are in free circulation in Turkey or the EU. It does not cover most agricultural products, which need an EUR.1.

Example sentences

  1. Please send the A.TR with the original invoice so the German importer pays no duty.

  2. Our forwarder asked whether the goods need an A.TR or an EUR.1.
