Nerf
Meaning in game development, with examples
In game development, nerf means: To make a weapon, character, ability or strategy weaker in an update because it is too strong. The opposite, making something stronger, is to buff it.
In Turkish: zayıflatmak, nerflemek, nerf atmak
How it is used
Informal, but designers use it in patch notes, community posts and meetings. Also a noun: the latest nerf. Players often react strongly when their favorite character gets nerfed, so teams explain the reasons.
