Power purchase agreement
Meaning in energy & renewables, with examples
In energy & renewables, power purchase agreement means: A long-term contract in which a buyer, such as a utility or a large company, agrees to purchase electricity from a specific power project at an agreed price.
In Turkish: elektrik satın alma anlaşması, enerji alım anlaşması, PPA
How it is used
Almost always shortened to PPA. Corporate PPAs let companies buy renewable power directly; they can be physical or virtual (financial). PPAs are negotiated, signed and priced per MWh, usually for 10 to 20 years, and they help projects get bank financing.
Example sentences

Without a power purchase agreement, the bank would not finance the solar project.
