In automotive, oil change means: Draining the old engine oil and refilling with new oil of the correct grade, usually together with a new oil filter. It is the most basic routine service job.

How it is used

Customers book an oil change; technicians do an oil and filter change and reset the service reminder. Oil grades are read aloud like 'five W thirty' (5W-30), and the manual lists the required oil specification.
