Pre-harvest interval
Meaning in agriculture, with examples
In agriculture, pre-harvest interval means: The minimum number of days that must pass between the last pesticide application and the harvest, as stated on the product label.
In Turkish: hasat öncesi bekleme süresi, son ilaçlama ile hasat arası süre
How it is used
Shortened to PHI. Growers, advisers and exporters check it carefully because harvesting too early can leave residues above the legal limit. Spray records must show that the pre-harvest interval was respected.
Example sentences
This fungicide has a pre-harvest interval of 14 days on grapes.
The pickers started too early and ignored the pre-harvest interval, so the batch failed the residue test.
Common collocations
