Bloat
Meaning in veterinary medicine, with examples
In veterinary medicine, bloat means: A dangerous build-up of gas in the stomach. In cattle and sheep the rumen swells with gas or froth; in large dogs the stomach can fill with gas and twist.
In Turkish: timpani, şişkinlik, mide dönmesi (köpeklerde)
How it is used
In ruminants vets distinguish frothy bloat, often after grazing lush clover or other legumes, from free-gas bloat. In dogs, gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV) is a surgical emergency, most common in large, deep-chested breeds.
