Eviction

Meaning in real estate, with examples

/ɪˈvɪkʃn/nounCommon term

In real estate, eviction means: The legal process of making a tenant leave a property, for example after unpaid rent or a serious breach of the lease.

In Turkish: tahliye, evden çıkarma

How it is used

Landlords start or file for eviction; tenants face eviction or receive an eviction notice. The rules are strict and differ by country and state, so landlords normally go through the courts rather than simply changing the locks.
