Home exercise programme

Meaning in physiotherapy, with examples

nounCore term

In physiotherapy, home exercise programme means: A set of exercises a patient is taught in clinic and then does alone at home, usually with written or illustrated instructions.

In Turkish: ev egzersiz programı, ev programı

How it is used

Almost every patient leaves with one, and notes often shorten it to HEP. You give, review and progress a home exercise programme, and the patient follows or sticks to it. American English spells it program. Many clinics now send exercises through an app or on a printed sheet with pictures.
