Vignette
Meaning in photography, with examples
In photography, vignette means: A darkening or lightening of the corners and edges of a photo compared with the center. It can come from the lens or be added in editing.
In Turkish: vinyet, kenar kararması, vinyetleme
How it is used
Lens vignetting is strongest at wide apertures and is usually corrected with a lens profile. A subtle added vignette draws the eye to the center; a heavy one tends to look dated. The effect and the process are both called vignetting.
Example sentences
Add a subtle vignette to pull attention to the bride.
This lens shows strong vignetting at f/1.2, but the lens profile fixes it.
