Compressor station
Meaning in oil, gas & mining, with examples
In oil, gas & mining, compressor station means: A facility along a gas pipeline that uses compressors to raise the pressure of the gas so that it keeps flowing over long distances.
In Turkish: kompresör istasyonu
How it is used
Gas loses pressure as it travels, so stations are built at intervals along the line, often 100 kilometres or more apart. Operators talk about compressor units, gas turbines, discharge pressure and station capacity. Stations are often controlled remotely.
Example sentences
