Reapply

Meaning in immigration & visas, with examples

/ˌriːəˈplaɪ/verbCommon term

In immigration & visas, reapply means: To make a new application after an earlier one was refused or withdrawn, or after a permission has expired.

In Turkish: yeniden başvurmak, tekrar başvurmak

How it is used

For some refusals, reapplying is the only option because there is no right of appeal. Officers usually look at whether the new application deals with the reasons for the earlier refusal. Forms always ask about previous refusals.

Example sentences

  1. After the refusal, we waited a few months and reapplied with stronger financial documents.

  2. You can reapply at any time, but you'll have to pay the fee again.
