Trims

Meaning in fashion & textiles, with examples

/trɪmz/nounCore term

In fashion & textiles, trims means: All the materials used on a garment apart from the main fabric, such as buttons, zips, labels, thread, elastic, tape and hangtags.

In Turkish: aksesuar, yardımcı malzeme, garnitür

How it is used

Trims are listed in the bill of materials and often have their own suppliers and lead times. Turkish factories usually call them aksesuar. Late trims are a common reason for production delays, so merchandisers chase trim approvals early.

Example sentences

  1. All trims are approved except the woven label, which needs a new colour.

  2. Trims arrive on Monday, so sewing can start on Tuesday.
