In web development, build means: The automatic step that turns source code into files ready for production, for example by compiling, bundling and minifying them; also the result of that step.

How it is used

Also a verb: build the project. Developers say 'the build failed', 'the build is green' and 'run a production build', usually with npm run build. CI servers run a build for every change.
