Triple room

Meaning in tourism & hospitality, with examples

/ˈtrɪpl ruːm/nounCore term

In tourism & hospitality, triple room means: A room for three people, usually with three single beds or with a double bed plus a single or extra bed.

In Turkish: üç kişilik oda, triple oda

How it is used

Common in tour operator contracts and group bookings, often shortened to TRP or TPL on rooming lists. Many hotels have no real triple rooms and create them by adding an extra bed to a double, which makes the room tighter, so staff should explain the set-up.

Example sentences

  1. We're two adults and a twelve-year-old, so we'll need a triple room.

  2. Please note that our triple rooms are double rooms with an extra bed.
