Slope
Meaning in mathematics, with examples
In mathematics, slope means: A number that measures how steep a line is: the change in y divided by the change in x between any two points on the line.
In Turkish: eğim
How it is used
In y = mx + b the slope is m. People say 'rise over run' to remember the formula. A positive slope goes up from left to right and a negative slope goes down. British English usually says 'gradient'.
Example sentences
