MRP
Meaning in logistics & supply chain, with examples
In logistics & supply chain, MRP means: Short for material requirements planning: a system that uses the production plan, bills of materials and stock levels to calculate which materials to order or make, and when.
In Turkish: malzeme ihtiyaç planlaması, MRP
How it is used
Built into most ERP systems. Planners 'run MRP', often every night, and get purchase and production proposals. MRP results are only as good as the master data, such as lead times and bills of materials. MRP II (manufacturing resource planning) is a broader concept.
Example sentences
MRP suggested ordering 2,000 screws, but we already have plenty in the other warehouse.
Because the lead times in the system are wrong, MRP keeps creating late orders.
