Bullwhip effect
Meaning in logistics & supply chain, with examples
In logistics & supply chain, bullwhip effect means: The way small changes in consumer demand turn into larger and larger swings in orders and stock as they move up the supply chain to wholesalers, manufacturers and suppliers.
In Turkish: kamçı etkisi, kırbaç etkisi
How it is used
A classic supply chain concept, discussed in planning meetings and courses. Causes include ordering in large batches, price promotions, panic buying and poor information sharing. Sharing point-of-sale data and placing smaller, more frequent orders help reduce it.
Example sentences

Sharing sales data with our suppliers has reduced the bullwhip effect.
