PDF/X

Meaning in graphic design, with examples

abbreviationAdvanced term

In graphic design, PDF/X means: A family of PDF standards intended to support reliable exchange of print documents.

In Turkish: baskı alışverişi için PDF standardı

How it is used

Specify the required PDF/X version; conformance alone does not validate every production choice.

Example sentences

  1. The printer requested PDF/X-4 for the exhibition catalogue.

The request identifies a specific print-exchange standard.

  2. The PDF/X check passed, but the cover still had the wrong dimensions.

Standards conformance does not establish that the job specification is correct.
