Cross-tabulation
Meaning in statistics, with examples
In statistics, cross-tabulation means: A table that shows how the categories of two or more categorical variables combine, with the number of cases in each combination.
In Turkish: çapraz tablo, çapraz tablolama
How it is used
Often shortened to 'crosstab' and also called a contingency table. Used to compare groups (for example answers by gender or region) and as the basis of the chi-square test of independence. Row or column percentages make the table easier to read.
Example sentences
A cross-tabulation of satisfaction by region showed lower scores in the east.
Add column percentages to the cross-tabulation so we can compare the age groups.
