Trace logging
Meaning in software engineering, with examples
In software engineering, trace logging means: Very detailed logging that records small execution steps, used to follow program flow during debugging or hard-to-find failures.
In Turkish: izleme düzeyinde günlükleme
How it is used
Used when normal logs do not explain behavior clearly. Teams may enable it briefly to inspect function flow, state changes, and retry decisions.
Example sentences
We enabled trace logging for the sync job to see exactly where the retry loop stopped after the timeout in staging.
Here it means turning on the most detailed logging level so each step of the failing background job becomes visible.
Trace logging flooded the local console, but it finally revealed that a null flag was skipping the cache warmup during startup.
In this example, the dense output helps expose an internal condition that ordinary log messages were too coarse to show.
