ANR
Meaning in mobile app development, with examples
In mobile app development, ANR means: Application Not Responding: an Android error shown when an app's main thread is blocked for too long, for example about five seconds without responding to a touch.
In Turkish: uygulama yanıt vermiyor hatası, ANR
How it is used
Users see a dialog that lets them wait or close the app. Teams follow the ANR rate in Google Play vitals, because a high rate can reduce an app's visibility in the store. The usual fix is to move slow work off the main thread.
Example sentences
We get ANRs on cheap phones when the app parses a big JSON file at startup.
Our ANR rate in Play vitals is above the bad behavior threshold.
