In immigration & visas, processing time means: The time the authorities need to make a decision on an application, counted from when it is submitted or when biometrics are given.

How it is used

Official websites publish average or target processing times, but they can be longer in busy seasons. Some countries offer priority or super priority services for an extra fee. Applicants say "the processing time is about three weeks".
