AQL
Meaning in fashion & textiles, with examples
In fashion & textiles, AQL means: Acceptance quality limit: a statistical standard that sets how many defective pieces are allowed in a random sample before a whole shipment fails inspection.
In Turkish: AQL, kabul edilebilir kalite seviyesi
How it is used
Final inspections are usually done to AQL based on ISO 2859-1 tables. Brands set levels such as AQL 2.5 for major defects and 4.0 for minor defects; the lower the number, the stricter the check. Inspectors report that an order passed or failed AQL.
Example sentences
The order failed the final inspection at AQL 2.5, so the factory must re-check every carton.
For 3,000 pieces, the AQL table gives a sample size of 125.
