Molar mass
Meaning in chemistry, with examples
In chemistry, molar mass means: The mass of one mole of a substance, usually given in grams per mole (g/mol). For water it is about 18.02 g/mol.
In Turkish: mol kütlesi, molar kütle
How it is used
Used in almost every lab calculation to switch between grams and moles. You calculate, look up or check the molar mass; bottle labels and older texts often give the same number as 'molecular weight' (MW) or 'formula weight' (FW).
Example sentences
The molar mass of sodium chloride is 58.44 g/mol, so 5.844 g is 0.1 mol.
Use the molar mass on the bottle label, not a rounded value.
Common collocations
