In web development, JSON means: JavaScript Object Notation: a simple text format for data, made of keys and values in curly braces, used by most web APIs.

How it is used

Pronounced like the name Jason. APIs return or accept JSON; in JavaScript you parse it with JSON.parse() and create it with JSON.stringify(). Configuration files such as package.json use it as well.
