Lexical scope
Meaning in software engineering, with examples
In software engineering, lexical scope means: A rule that resolves names from the surrounding code structure, rather than from the sequence of function calls.
In Turkish: sözcüksel kapsam
How it is used
Use it when explaining which variable a nested function can access. Contrast it with scope determined by callers.
Example sentences
Because of lexical scope, the callback reads the outer function's limit.
The variable comes from where the callback was defined, even if another function runs it.
The reviewer used lexical scope to explain why the caller's count was ignored.
A matching name in the caller does not automatically replace the binding visible at definition.
