Implement

Meaning in software engineering, with examples

/ˈɪmplɪment/verbCore term

In software engineering, implement means: To turn a plan, design or feature idea into working code. In object-oriented code, it also means to provide the methods that an interface requires.

In Turkish: geliştirmek, hayata geçirmek, uygulamak, kodlamak

How it is used

Very common in tickets and stand-ups: 'implement the search feature', 'I've implemented the API call'. The noun 'implementation' means the actual code ('the current implementation is slow'). An 'implementation detail' is something users of the code do not need to know.

Example sentences

  2. The current implementation loads every row into memory, which won't scale.
