CSRF token
Meaning in software engineering, with examples
In software engineering, CSRF token means: An unpredictable value included in a request and checked by the server to help reject cross-site request forgery.
In Turkish: CSRF belirteci
How it is used
Used in web forms and state-changing requests such as account updates or payments. Common with session-based authentication, cookies, and server-side validation.
Example sentences
The payment form failed because the CSRF token had expired after the user left the tab open during lunch.
In this application, the token is no longer valid, so the server rejects the form submission.
Our QA script must fetch a fresh CSRF token before posting profile changes to the staging site.
In this example, the script needs the token as a required field for a valid authenticated request that changes stored data.
Common collocations
- CSRF token validation
- expired CSRF token
- generate a CSRF token
