Magnetic field
Meaning in physics, with examples
In physics, magnetic field means: The region around a magnet or a current-carrying wire where magnetic forces can be felt. Its strength is measured in teslas (T), and it is shown with field lines.
In Turkish: manyetik alan
How it is used
Symbol B. Outside a magnet, field lines go from the north pole to the south pole. A charge moving through a magnetic field feels a force, and a changing field induces a current. The Earth's magnetic field at the surface is roughly 50 microteslas.
Example sentences
The wire is placed in a uniform magnetic field of 0.2 T.
Iron filings show the shape of the magnetic field around the bar magnet.
