nounCommon term

In logistics & supply chain, cycle count means: A stock check in which a small part of the warehouse is counted on a regular schedule, so that all items are counted over time without closing the warehouse.

How it is used

An alternative to the yearly full stocktake (physical inventory). High-value or fast-moving items, often the 'A items' of an ABC analysis, are counted more often. Differences between the count and the system are investigated and adjusted.
