Reflected ceiling plan

Meaning in interior design, with examples

nounAdvanced term

In interior design, reflected ceiling plan means: A drawing of the ceiling as if it were reflected in a mirror on the floor, showing lights, ceiling heights, bulkheads, vents and smoke detectors in the same orientation as the floor plan.

In Turkish: tavan planı, asma tavan planı, RCP

How it is used

Usually shortened to RCP. It is drawn as a reflection rather than as a view looking up, so that everything lines up with the floor plan below. Electricians, ceiling installers and mechanical engineers all work from it.

  2. Please add the air conditioning grilles to the reflected ceiling plan.
