In insurance, health insurance means: Insurance that pays for medical costs such as doctor visits, tests, hospital stays and surgery, up to the limits in the policy.

How it is used

Sold to individuals and, very often, to employers as group health insurance. Related words: network hospitals, inpatient and outpatient cover, waiting periods and pre-authorisation. In Turkey it adds to the cover of the state social security system.
