Dental implant
Meaning in dentistry, with examples
In dentistry, dental implant means: A small screw, usually made of titanium, placed in the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once it has fused with the bone, it supports a crown, bridge or denture.
In Turkish: implant, diş implantı
How it is used
Implants are placed, and the bone bonds to them in a process called osseointegration. The part that connects the implant to the crown is the abutment. Patients usually just say 'an implant'.
Example sentences

There isn't enough bone for a dental implant, so we may need a graft first.
