View
Meaning in databases & SQL, with examples
In databases & SQL, view means: A saved SELECT query that you can use like a table. It usually stores no data of its own and shows the current result of the query each time.
In Turkish: görünüm, view
How it is used
Used to hide complex joins, give reporting teams a simple interface or limit which columns a user can see. A materialized view is different: it stores the result physically and must be refreshed. You create, drop and query views.
Example sentences
The finance team queries a view that joins orders, payments and refunds.
We refresh the materialized view every hour because the base query is expensive.
Common collocations
- create a view
