In cloud computing & devops, subnet means: A smaller range of IP addresses inside a larger network such as a VPC, used to group resources and control which of them can reach the internet.

How it is used

Teams talk about public subnets (with a route to the internet, for load balancers) and private subnets (no direct internet access, for databases). Subnets are written in CIDR notation, such as 10.0.1.0/24.
