In blockchain & crypto, market cap means: Short for market capitalization: the total value of a cryptocurrency, found by multiplying its current price by the number of coins in circulation.

How it is used

Used to rank and compare projects: large-cap, mid-cap and small-cap coins, the total crypto market cap, the top ten by market cap. Analysts warn that a high market cap does not mean that the same amount of money could actually be taken out of the market.
