In artificial intelligence & machine learning, ground truth means: The correct, verified answers that a model's outputs are compared with, usually created by careful human labeling or by real measurements.

How it is used

Used as a noun and before other nouns: ground truth labels, ground truth data. People also question whether the ground truth itself is reliable, since human labels can be wrong or disagree. Common in evaluation, computer vision and remote sensing.
