Manure

Meaning in agriculture, with examples

/məˈnʊr/nounCore term

In agriculture, manure means: Animal dung, often mixed with straw or bedding, that is spread on land as an organic fertilizer to add nutrients and organic matter.

In Turkish: hayvan gübresi, ahır gübresi, çiftlik gübresi

How it is used

Farmers spread, store and compost manure. Common types are farmyard manure, cattle manure, poultry manure and liquid manure (slurry). Well-rotted manure is preferred because fresh manure can burn plants and carry weed seeds.
