In software engineering, Xcode means: Apple's development environment for writing, building, testing and publishing apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and other Apple platforms. It runs only on macOS.

How it is used

iOS developers open a project in Xcode, run it on a simulator, archive a build and upload it to App Store Connect from there. A new Xcode version arrives with each major iOS version, and teams often have to update Xcode to use the latest SDK.
