SLA
Meaning in software engineering, with examples
In software engineering, SLA means: Short for service level agreement: a contract that promises customers a certain level of service, such as 99.9 percent uptime, and says what happens if it is not met.
In Turkish: hizmet düzeyi sözleşmesi, hizmet seviyesi anlaşması, SLA
How it is used
Said letter by letter, 'S-L-A'. Cloud providers often give service credits (a discount on the bill) when they break an SLA. Teams say a provider 'meets' or 'breaches' its SLA.
Example sentences
The SLA promises 99.9 percent availability, so this outage means we get a service credit.
Our enterprise customers ask for a four-hour response time in the SLA.
Common collocations
