Conditional sentence, dilbilimde koşul cümlesi, şart cümlesi anlamına gelir.
Bir if cümleciği ve bir temel cümlecikten oluşan, gerçek ya da hayali bir koşulu ve onun sonucunu anlatan cümle: 'If it rains, we'll stay in.'
English: A sentence with an if-clause and a main clause, used to talk about a condition and its result, real or imagined: 'If it rains, we'll stay in.'
Nerede ve nasıl kullanılır?
Ders kitapları zero, first, second ve third conditional ile karma koşul (mixed conditional) yapılarını öğretir. Dilbilimciler gerçek ve gerçek dışı (real/unreal ya da open/hypothetical) koşul cümleleri gibi adlandırmaları tercih eder. Kısaca 'a conditional' da denir.
Örnek cümleler
'If I had known, I would have called you' is a third conditional sentence about the past.
'If I had known, I would have called you' geçmişe ilişkin bir third conditional cümlesidir.
In a second conditional sentence we use the past simple after if: 'If I had more time, I would learn Japanese.'
Second conditional cümlesinde if'ten sonra past simple kullanırız: 'If I had more time, I would learn Japanese.'
