State-of-the-art
Meaning in software engineering, with examples
In software engineering, state-of-the-art means: Describes the best result or method known at a given time, usually measured on a well-known benchmark.
In Turkish: en gelişmiş, son teknoloji, alanındaki en iyi
How it is used
Very common in papers ('achieves state-of-the-art results') and in marketing. It is shortened to SOTA, pronounced 'SO-tuh'. Because the field moves fast, a state-of-the-art model may be overtaken within months.
Example sentences
The paper claims state-of-the-art results on three Turkish benchmarks.
We don't need a state-of-the-art model for this; a small one is fast and good enough.
Common collocations
